Pumpkin Pickin'

This is one of the kids favorite things to do!!  Pumpkin pickin' at its finest......searching through rows and rows of beautiful orange to find the perfect pumpkin.  Anytime Raegan has seen a pumpkin this year she hollers, PUMPKIN PATCH!!  (even if it is only a picture)  She was so excited, as were the boys, to pull up and get to pick out their pumpkin.  Just look at the alternation between concentration and smiles.  You have to make sure it is just the one!!

A Little Park Time

There is absolutely nothing like a little park time with my favorite little people.

“Your children are the greatest gift God will give to you, and their souls the heaviest responsibility He will place in your hands. Take time with them, teach them to have faith in God. Be a person in whom they can have faith. When you are old, nothing else you've done will have mattered as much.”

Lunaphobia

Well lately we have been suffering from lunaphobia in our house, also known as being afraid of the moon.  We have always said,

I see the moon and the moon sees me,
God Bless the moon and God Bless me!

But, ever since the night of the super moon and we said that Raegan has been petrified of the moon.  She thinks the moon is watching her and will peek out windows to make sure it isn't looking.  She will not dare go outside when the moon is out, unless you are holding her and protecting her.  Now, for whatever reason she thinks that the moon has hit her and she will run fast from it.

I know it is not rational, but this fear is very real in her mind!  We are constantly providing reassurance and know that in time this will pass.  I guess we all have strange fears in our lives at some point, right?

Today!

“We worry about what a child will become tomorrow, yet we forget that he is someone today.”
-Stacia Tauscher

Sometimes it is better to just be in the day that is the present.  I  think about what we should be doing far too often.  This weekend I just took some time to be and love the kids that I have today.  We enjoyed playing blocks, reading, and watching the rain out the window.  We tried jumping in puddles, but the mosquitoes ran us away.  Maybe next time!  I loved seeing their smiling faces......that was enough alone!

This is NOT MY CHIlD

My daughter is currently on antibiotics to treat double ear infections, and I'm currently about ready to offer her up to the highest bidder. Though if the bidders see her behavior lately, there won't be much bidding.
I kid, of course (mostly), because typically she is a sweet, sunny, sassy little thing who I love more than anything in the world. But get some antibiotics into my little princess, and the castle starts to crumble.
She is a whiny, crying mess. She shrieks with a scary, high-pitched wail I've never heard before while flailing her limbs. She has even tried to attack everyone in the house.  I'm considering making her wear a t-shirt when we're in public that reads: "Not a brat, just on antibiotics."

So why don't doctors mention this little side effect or why don't the bottles come with warning labels (caution: your child may make you want to stick your head in the oven ... or anywhere quiet)?

Thankfully, we're almost done with this dose, so with any luck, my lovely daughter will soon reemerge, and we'll all try to just forget the horror of the past week ... and hope it's not a glimpse into what the "3s" may hold.

Here Kitty Kitty

Here Kitty Kitty and bye bye Kitty!  These were the first kittens from Flossy we ever saw.  Each of the kitties are handicapped with back legs that don't completely work.  But, they make up for that with all their spunk......

We said goodbye to the kitties as we took them to their new home, Mimi's yard!  We were going to keep one but didn't know if they would be able to outrun Max and Rain.  The safer option was Mimi's house and the kids still get to go visit, even though there is no way you can touch them now.

Happy Birthday Grandma!

Grandma seems to keep getting stronger and stronger as she gets older.  Nothing will slow down this 92 year old woman.  She loves tending to her garden with her dog chasing at her heels.  She spends countless time on the porch just watching.  She probably knows more things about our neighborhood by just doing that than most.  Here's to many more years!!

September Happenings

Well, it has been an interesting and busy month.

Raegan changed rooms in school because she is a "potty - trained".  She went a whole week of missing school due to some crazy fever virus.  Her favorite word right now is "prolly".  She (probably) needs more princess fruit snacks all the time!!  She loves her brother, but boy do they know how to fight as well.  They are always doing something to each other......Ayden pushed me, Raegan hit me, Ayden kicked me, Raegan bit me.  Then they turn around and hug and kiss each other.  Oh well, guess that is part of being brothers and sisters.  Raegan now thinks she needs to pick out her clothes, well mostly pajamas, each day.  That makes life interesting!  Nothing like wearing footed fleece pajamas in 90 degree weather.  I have to remind myself daily to pick my battles as she becomes more and more strong-willed.  Something about heading to the big "3" does that to kids.  She is completely fascinated with the sky right now.  She loves the colors, especially during the sunrise on the way to school.  She will ask, "Momma, who make the sky?  It's toooo pwetty!".  I will tell her Jesus makes it and then she will start singing Jesus Loves Me.  It is really sweet!  She doesn't appreciate me waving at strangers when riding in the car....."Momma, who was that?  ....  It was the UPS man Raegan. ......  Why you hi at him? ......  I was being nice, you can hi him to if you want .....  No, Momma I don't cuz he no like me. "  You never know what will come out of her mouth!!

Ayden is diving head first in fifth grade and loving it so far.  He is going through some fun headaches and has been since summer.  Although, they seem to have quieted some by using the glasses per the eye doctor's recommendations.  He absolutely despises school lunch and is anxiously awaiting chorus tryouts and basketball sign-ups.  Each child in his grade has been assigned a laptop for use, which a new thing for our school system.  I guess it is at least something, because Ayden has never seen a textbook in his whole school career.  I am not sure what happens to the lottery money that is supposedly for schools, but that is a different subject.  He is a great helper in school as he is on the flag detail, a library helper, and a table washer.  He is signing up for the science olympiad on top of computers, chess, and Stride.  He is a busy, busy bee.  He is already making his Christmas list and Raegan is starting hers too.  What is good for brother is good for her, right?  He is greatly enjoying his four-wheeler and getting muddy as I guess boys do.  He had a great trip with Chris recently and loved riding and washing the four-wheelers.

The kids captured my phone the other day and began taking selfies.  Here are a few!

Happy Happy Happy

It’s so crazy to me (as a kid, or even teenager), I always seemed to think time dragged on endlessly. Then at some point in my life, it al...
